What is a Crypto Airdrop?
Crypto airdrops have been around for some time now, but they’ve gained popularity in recent years. These events are essentially free distributions of cryptocurrency tokens or NFTs to users who hold certain cryptocurrencies. In this article, we will explore the concept of crypto airdrops, their implementation, and why they matter for crypto developers.
Crypto airdrops can be categorized into three types:
- Equitable distribution: This type of airdrop distributes tokens or NFTs equally among all holders of the parent cryptocurrency. For example, if you hold 100 units of the parent cryptocurrency, you will receive 100 units of the child token.
- Proportional distribution: This type of airdrop distributes tokens or NFTs based on the percentage of the parent cryptocurrency held by each user. For example, if you hold 5% of the total supply of the parent cryptocurrency, you will receive 5% of the total supply of the child token.
